Unemployment rate inched down to 8.8 percent in March, the Labor Department announced today. However, the "real unemployment rate," which includes those who are underemployed, stands at 15.7 percent, The National Employment Law Project said.. Unemployment advocates continued their efforts today to convince Congress to pass HR 589, the Emergency Unemployment Compensation Act of 2011, which would provide an additional 14 weeks of benefits to the 99ers -- those who have exhausted all available benefits.
