Fox Runs ABP Fire Photo! Huffington Post cries foul... An aerial photograph purportedly taken on June 12 of the area by American Border Patrol, an independent organization that monitors the border, claims the blaze actually started in Mexico and traveled upwind into the U.S.. Cochise County Sheriff Dever said that was an "accurate picture" of what occurred. "There's really only one likely source of this fire and that's someone who was moving through the area illegally," Dever told FoxNews.com during a brief interview. "It's evidence of illegal trafficking. It's the result of illegal activity any way you look at it. It wasn't naturally caused."
[Huffington Post: Amazingly, Fox News published and relied on data collected by Glenn Spencer, an infamous anti-immigrant extremist and militia activist... Wow, so now the news media and law enforcement are relying on known anti-extremist groups for "accurate" data about Mexicans? --- (Anti-extremist?)]

Getting Warmer on Cause of Fire...When will the Forest Service clear the air?
Getting Warmer on Cause of Fire...When will the Forest Service clear the air? Cochise Co. "Sheriff Larry Dever will tell you that the Monument Fire was started when the park, the forest was closed. So anyone who was in there is illegal," The Forest Service has only said publicly that the wildfires appear to be 'human caused' and have not offered any evidence that the suspects may have been illegal aliens....The fact is that as far back as 2006 the Forest Service testified before Congress, and I quote, 'Large numbers of warming and cooking fires built and abandoned by CROSS BORDER VIOLATERS (ILLEGAL ALIENS) have caused wildfires that have destroyed valuable natural and cultural resources.'"

AZ: Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever Tells Congress That Border Patrol Agents Ordered to Reduce Arrests (TBS)
AZ: Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever Tells Congress That Border Patrol Agents Ordered to Reduce Arrests (TBS) The Border Patrol’s practice of detecting but not apprehending illegal aliens -- known as “Turn Back South” -- is in effect far north of the U.S.-Mexico border..“It appears, according to numerous reports from current and former border agents, that this practice has gravitated many miles north of the border. That means that, regardless of proximity to the border, people who are detected but not caught are considered to be “Turned Back South,” Dever said in his written testimony before the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Border and Maritime Security.

Cochise County, AZ: Border Patrol chief calls Sheriff Larry Dever's apprehension claims false (did Janet get to BP Chief??)
Cochise County, AZ: Border Patrol chief calls Sheriff Larry Dever's apprehension claims false (did Janet get to BP Chief??)..that Border Patrol agents are being instructed not to arrest all illegal border crossers to keep apprehension numbers down are 100-percent false.
Last week, Local 2544, the Tucson Sector chapter of the agents' union, the National Border Patrol Council, backed Dever's allegations in a post on their website:
"Sheriff Dever is right. We have seen so many slick shenanigans pulled in regards to "got-aways" and entry numbers that at times it seems David Copperfield is running the Border Patrol. Creating the illusion that all is well and you can start having family picnics in the areas where we work has been going on far too long. Has there been improvement in some areas? Absolutely. Is the border anywhere near "under control"? Absolutely not."
