Where the tunnels are: Nogales, not Douglas...Glenn Spencer, president of American Border Patrol, a non-governmental border watch group in Hereford, noted the border area near Naco, Arizona, does not provide many opportunities for tunneling from Naco, Sonora. -- "There are not a lot of private residences and private buildings in Naco where a tunnel could exit," he said. -- "But, there is no need to dig a tunnel under Naco if they can bring drugs through the San Pedro Riparian Area

Raided Mexican Ranch Linked to U.S. Drug War Corruption...Former CIA Asset Claims U.S. Special Forces Assisted Mexican Soldiers In Assault on Stash Site...The recent raid of a stash site on the Mexican side of the border suspected of containing a cache of guns and/or drugs is drawing attention once again to the U.S. border town of Columbus, N.M. — where 11 people, including the mayor, police chief and a village trustee, were recently indicted on gun-running charges. The Mexican stash site was raided this past Wednesday evening, June 15, according to former CIA contract pilot and New Mexico resident Tosh Plumlee, who was present at the scene taking photos.

Corruption adds to problems on border
Corruption adds to problems on border...Even as it works to beef up security, the U.S. government is turning up hundreds of agents who may already be compromised... Smugglers have become "more creative and clever in their illicit activities..They have turned to tempting DHS employees to assist in smuggling efforts for private gain." Only 22 percent of new hires are subjected to lie detector tests amid expanding enlistments and shortages of polygraph specialists. The agency is expanding the number of polygraphers from 35 to 52, but it will be at least 2013 before it can polygraph all new hires.

Smugglers target Arizona for two of every three illegal border tunnels... AZ has more than 90 illegal tunnels under its border with Mexico, the most discovered in any state in the Southwest, law enforcement officials told senators this week.
Investigators have uncovered 88 in Nogales, Ariz., alone since the 1990s, accounting for more than half of the 153 tunnels found on the border..DHS said that since 1990, officials have found 42 tunnels into San Diego, 12 to Calexico, Calif., and two to Tierra Del Sol, Calif....Feinstein said she will introduce a bill next week to strengthen the existing Border Tunnel Protection Act of 2006 by making “the use, construction or financing of a border tunnel a conspiracy offense.”

El Paso, TX: Railroads fined when cartels hide drugs on trains
El Paso, TX: Railroads fined when cartels hide drugs on trains..A border security program to X-ray every train rolling into the country has prompted as much as $400 million in fines against U.S. railroads, which are held responsible for the pungent bales of marijuana, tight bundles of cocaine, and anything else criminals cram into the boxcars and tankers as they clickety-clack through Mexico. Union Pacific, the largest rail shipper on the U.S.-Mexico border and the largest recipient of fines, refuses to pay what now amounts to more than $388 million in fines, up from $37.5 million three years ago when the screening began. In federal litigation the railroad argues that it's being punished for something it cannot control: criminals stashing illegal drugs in rail cars in Mexico.

FL: Deputies: Lakeland heroin ringleader (illegal alien) used food stamps
FL: Deputies: Lakeland heroin ringleader (illegal alien) used food stamps...There are still a lot of unanswered questions about how 43 year-old Pablo Borgen, who the Polk County Sheriff's Office says is in this country illegally, was able to qualify for $900 a month in food stamps... pulled in thousands of dollars a month heading up a heroin operation.. the operation was a family affair. After a 14 month investigation they arrested 33 people including Borgen's wife and sister. Judd says some of the other suspects were also collecting food stamps. "They're stealing from the people that need it. They steal when they sell the drugs. They steal when they go after stuff they don't qualify for. You know if you're bringing in $70,000 a month you don't need $900 in food stamps."

Mexico - Narco gangster reveals the underworld
Mexico - Narco gangster reveals the underworld..The elderly are killed. Young women are raped. And able-bodied men are given hammers, machetes and sticks and forced to fight to the death. In one of the most chilling revelations yet about the violence in Mexico, a drug cartel-connected trafficker claims fellow gangsters have kidnapped highway bus passengers and forced them into gladiatorlike fights to groom fresh assassins. In an in-person interview arranged by intermediaries on the condition that neither his name nor the location of his Texas visit be published, the trafficker also admitted to helping push cocaine worth $5 million to $10 million a month into the U.S..

Several days before the murder of New Mexico resident Larry Link, Border Invasion Pics caught illegal smugglers carrying loads of drugs inside the U.S. borders loading dope filled backpacks into a waiting pickup truck; not once, but twice in the same day, on the same trail...without a secure southern border fence, there is simply too much territory to cover and not enough resources to apprehend all the bad guys.

San Diego, CA: Terrorist Group Setting Up Operations Near San Diego/Tijuana Border
San Diego, CA: Terrorist Group Setting Up Operations Near San Diego/Tijuana Border... A terrorist organization whose home base is in the Middle East has established ANOTHER home base across the border in Mexico. "They are recognized by many experts as the 'A' team of Muslim terrorist organizations," a former U.S. intelligence agent told 10News. The former agent, referring to Shi'a Muslim terrorist group Hezbollah, added, "They certainly have had successes in big-ticket bombings." Now, the group is blending into Shi'a Muslim communities in Mexico, including Tijuana. Other pockets along the U.S.-Mexico border region remain largely unidentified as U.S. intelligence agencies are focused on the drug trade

TX: Game wardens, TX Rangers and Border Patrol run into drug runners
TX: Game wardens, TX Rangers and Border Patrol run into drug runners...We expect to learn more today about a shootout between drug runners and U.S. authorities near Chimney Park south of Mission. Dozens of Texas state game wardens descended on Chimney Park along with Border Patrol agents and Texas Rangers. They saturated the area after a shootout between game wardens and drug smugglers. Authorities in Austin have released only basic information, saying a suspicious vehicle was spotted on the U.S. side of the river around 6 Thursday morning. They then saw two cartel drug recovery boats loaded with people and what appeared to be marijuana. As they approached, that's when gunfire broke out. Gunmen on the Mexican side opened fire on American boats. Game wardens aboard returned fire, injuring three of the smugglers. We're told Mexican authorities were made aware of the incident.
