Connecticut Dream Act Passes and is signed by Governor Malloy
Connecticut Dream Act Passes and is signed by Governor Malloy.... Malloy signed a measure that entitles illegal aliens to receive the in-state tuition benefit for attending Connecticut's public colleges and universities. This assistance previously was afforded only to legal citizens who live in the state...aka the "Act Concerning Access to Postsecondary Education"....[another state giving competitive slots in public institutions to illegals in favor of legal students...another state charging 1/3 tuition to illegals, full tuition paid by American Citizens from other states]

Some Pennsylvania Legislators Want to Give In-State Tuition to Illegal Aliens
Some Pennsylvania Legislators Want to Give In-State Tuition to Illegal Aliens..."A bill to be introduced in the state House today by Rep. Tony Payton, D-Phila., would . . . allow illegal aliens who were brought here as children by their parents and who have attended high school in the state to pay instate college tuition rates rather than higher, out-of-state rates," "Bob Dane, spokesman for the FAIR, a Washington-based group that seeks to stop illegal immigration, contended that state lawmakers' attempts to pass a DREAM Act-type bill 'is an amnesty bill disguised as an educational initiative.'" MD: Baltimore County Council members support illegal alien tuition petition
MD: Baltimore County Council members support illegal alien tuition petition...The majority of the Baltimore County Council plans to issue a statement as early as Thursday morning expressing support for the petition that seeks to halt a new state law giving discounted in-state tuition to illegal aliens..Republican David Marks said he has already signed the petition. Huff said he is "strongly opposed" to the bill and supports efforts to put the issue to a referendum. "I do feel it's going to have an economic impact on local jurisdictions," he said. "We depend on tuition to help fund our community colleges. Where they lack these funds, we then have to supplement, and in these very difficult economic times, tuition breaks to illegal aliens is NOT good or economical."

In-state tuition bill (SB742) for illegal aliens dies in Oregon House
In-state tuition bill(SB742) for illegal aliens dies in Oregon House..The Oregon House will not have an up-or-down vote on a bill allowing in-state tuition rates for state university students, regardless of immigration status. A petition failed to obtain the signatures from 31 members — the majority required to pass a bill — by today's deadline. So SB742, heard by the House Rules Committee back on May 11 but never advanced, is likely to die there.

Maryland: Dream Act opponents pass first test (THIS IS HOW YOU FIGHT IN-STATE TUITION FOR ILLEGALS)
Maryland: Dream Act opponents pass first test (THIS IS HOW YOU FIGHT IN-STATE TUITION FOR ILLEGALS).. Organizers of a petition to repeal Maryland’s Dream Act notched an important victory Tuesday, as they received an official go-ahead to continue their signature drive through the end of June. The state Board of Elections confirmed Tuesday morning it has validated more than 21,000 signatures on the petition to block the law allowing in-state tuition for some illegal aliens. Petitioners were required to turn in at least 18,579 valid signatures from registered voters by May 31, in order to continue working toward a final goal of 55,736 signatures by June 30. If the petitioners satisfy both requirements, the Dream Act would be suspended and decided by a November 2012 statewide vote.

States clarify tuition policies for Illegal Alien students
States clarify tuition policies for Illegal Alien students.. New laws clarifying tuition charges for illegal aliens at public colleges are poised to go into effect in three states this summer, bringing to 13 the number of states that allow such students to pay lower, in-state rates and to five the number that forbid it. (example, the sticker price last year was $8,416 for in-state students and $24,831 for non-residents in Maryland....in other words, illegals pay the lower price, children of American Citizens pay the full price...EACH AND EVERY ONE SHOULD BE FIGHTING THIS IN YOUR STATES)

The drive's sponsors were successful in collecting more than enough signatures to meet the state's first deadline for submission....On a number of occasions, volunteers collecting signatures for the petition were approached and harassed by members of illegal alien advocacy groups.

IL. State DREAM Act To Get Vote Today SB2185...SB2185 passed the state House executive committee on a party line vote of 7 to 4 on Tuesday. Louisiana: Lawmaker withdraws controversial immigration bill HB59
Louisiana: Lawmaker withdraws controversial immigration bill HB59..The bill would have required police to verify the citizenship of any arrested person before they are released. It would have required certain employers any state entity or the recipient of a grant totaling more than $50,000 to verify the citizenship status of their workforce. And it would have required colleges and social service providers to verify the citizenship of all applicants. People seeking public assistance in LA would have had to verify their citizenship by executing an affidavit under penalty of perjury and have the sworn statement notarized. But the state agency providing the benefits would also have to verify the applicant's status through DHS.

Supreme Court may hear case on tuition breaks for illegal aliens
Supreme Court may hear case on tuition breaks for illegal aliens... CA's policy of granting lower, in-state college tuition to illegal aliens who graduate from its high schools is facing a challenge in U.S. Supreme Court from those who say it violates federal immigration law..At issue is a little-known provision in a 1996 law that bars states from giving "any postsecondary benefit" to an "alien who is not lawfully present in the United States … on the basis of residence within a state..The justices in Washington may announce as soon as Monday whether they will hear the challenge or dismiss it. They may turn it away because there is no dispute among the lower courts. It is also possible the high court could ask the Obama administration for its view before deciding. If the Supreme Court were to hear the case and overrule CA, the decision would affect Il, KS, MD, NE, NM, NY, OK, TX, UT, WA and WI. 12 other states have explicitly refused to grant in-state tuition to illegal aliens..

5 Florida RINOs Joined Democrats in Supporting In-State Tuition for Illegals SB318(didn't pass)...Voting for SB 318: John Thrasher, R-Jacksonville; Anitere Flores, R-Miami; David Simmons, R-Altamonte Springs; Garrett Richter, R-Naples; and Ellyn Bogdanoff, R-Fort Lauderdale. The RINO revolt in Judiciary was blocked at the Higher Education Committee, but with immigration activists managing to lure five GOP prominent senators to their side, the push will surely be back on next year. all legislative seats are up for grabs, due to redistricting in 2012. Footnote: Flores, Bogdanoff and Richter also voted to water down the Senate's E-Verify bill that died in the House.
