AZ Gov. Jan Brewer Wants to Keep Her Immigration Lawsuit Alive(SB1070)
AZ Gov. Jan Brewer Wants to Keep Her Immigration Lawsuit Alive(SB1070)..The governor's lawyers asked U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton to deny a request by the U.S. Justice Department to dismiss the lawsuit. Her attorneys say the lawsuit is needed to help bring relief to Arizona from the burdens of being a busy illegal entry point into the country. Brewer filed the action as a counter-lawsuit to the Justice Department's attempt to invalidate Arizona's immigration enforcement law.
The Justice Department says Brewer's counter-lawsuit raises questions of a political nature and that Bolton's court wasn't the right place to air Brewer's grievances.

As Obama fundraises in Texas, Arizona's Gov. Jan Brewer fires back over illegal immigration
As Obama fundraises in Texas, Arizona's Gov. Jan Brewer fires back over illegal immigration...the people of America won’t be fooled again. They know that any talk of a path to citizenship is simply amnesty by another name. And they’re smart enough to recognize a political ploy when they see it.

AZ: Gov. Jan Brewer: New law doesn't mean she will create Arizona State Guard
AZ: Gov. Jan Brewer: New law doesn't mean she will create Arizona State Guard..“I don’t know how we’re going to implement that,’’ Brewer said. She said the legislation provides no funds to help set it up. And the governor said there are “not really any directions’’ on how it would operate..Brewer said she sees all these issues as academic, as she has no intent to actually use her new powers to create the force.“But certainly I felt comfortable signing it,’’ she said.
“Going down the road, who knows?’’ the governor continued. “Maybe it is something that will be needed.’’ (WILL BE NEEDED????)

AZ: Awaiting Governor's decision, Tucson's mail-in elections hang in the balance
AZ: Awaiting Governor's decision, Tucson's mail-in elections hang in the balance..SB 1331 could prohibit Tucson from having mail ballot elections...In August, voters will still have the option of going to the polls in Tucson, but the number of polling places will be drastically cut back..If the Governor does sign the bill by the Monday, May 2 deadline, The matter could still all be settled through litigation in the Arizona Supreme Court..State Representative Ted Vogt said. Vogt added an amendment to 1331 only allowing mail-in elections for cities, towns and school districts with non-partisan elections. On a Tucson ballot, candidates are identified by political party."What my amendment does is preserves the status quo. And what is that, Tucsonans can vote by early ballot mail-in, or go to the polls,"

New Arizona law, signed by Gov. Brewer, prevents illegals from suing Arizonans for money
New Arizona law, signed by Gov. Brewer, prevents illegals from suing Arizonans for money...Two Arizona ranchers found guilty of abusing illegal aliens may now be off the hook, thanks to a new law signed Tuesday by Governor Jan Brewer..Roger Barnett and Casey Nethercott were ordered to pay hefty fines for what they did in 2004. And in Nethercott's case, it cost him his ranch near Douglas. (Illegals were awarded big $$$$ against U.S. Citizens)..Brewer signed a law making that amendment retroactive to 2004; the same year Barnett got in trouble, meaning he's now cleared of having to pay the settlement
