TN landscaping company sues migrant workers/Mexican Nationals...A Tennessee landscaping company accused of human trafficking, slavery and other violations has responded by countersuing 15 migrant workers for lying about alleged mistreatment.
Vanderbilt Landscaping, which is headquartered in Mason and has some Smyrna-based operations, was sued in March by Mexican nationals who worked for the company under a federal guest worker program. The workers say they were subjected to forced labor, constant surveillance, threats of serious harm and psychological coercion..
company says that investigations by government agencies found that “many, if not all, of plaintiffs’ claims were false and baseless,” and that the bad publicity cost the company a $275,000 contract with Metro Nashville government “for which it appeared to be the successful bidder.”
