AZ: Survey change likely means more ELL students for school districts (your Tax $$$ hard at work, DISGUSTING)....School districts are likely to see increases in English-language learners and the costs associated with the program after the federal government demanded that Arizona change a survey it uses to screen students, school officials and observers say. The change in the home-language survey comes as the state lawmakers are discussing cuts to K-12 education to address the budget deficit.
“If you have to put more money in your ELL programs, then what else are you taking it away from?”

I work in a high school. Many of these students do not use their 1st language properly. The slang is so heavy I once asked a Spanish teacher to translate what was captured in a chat between 2 students. She was unable to do that. The schools will spend a huge amount of money to teach students to speak English, while the American English speaking children who need services will not get them. It wouldn't be so bad if these were children born to Americans, but they're not. Almost all districts are hiring in their ELL programs. It is fast becoming the department to work for. When we employ thousands of people in ELL departments that area will no longer be untouchable as far as spending cuts are concerned. Our education system is in serious trouble. American students are lagging farther and farther behind as we focus on giving free education and special services to non-Americans and/or non English speaking students, whose parents by the way are for the most part uninvolved in their students education.
