California Gulch..one of those places along the border wide open to drug smugglers...no Border Patrol agents in California Gulch. This one of several major drug smuggling corridors through the area..Officialy this stretch of the border is classified as “monitored” by the Border Patrol.“Monitored” means that there are ” Substantial detection resources in place, but accessibility and resources continue to affect ability to respond.”Detection resources in this case means ground sensors, some radar and camera goodies. Probably the Border Patrol pretty much knows when someone smuggling drugs crosses the border.
