U.S. asked to delay visa refusals for gays...48 members of Congress asked immigration officials to hold off rejecting visa petitions by gay couples when one partner is not a U.S. citizen. They sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and the DHS, asking them to delay the rejections and to suspend the deportation of married gay couples until courts determine if the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is constitutional..Most U.S. citizens can obtain green cards for their spouses and fiances, but the DOMA keeps same-sex couples from receiving the same benefits.
