Nogales, AZ/MX: Agitated Mexicans observe border fence construction in Arizona
A crowd of curious and occasionally agitated onlookers gathered in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Nogales, Sonora on Friday morning to watch a U.S. construction crew replace the long-standing landing-mat border fence with a new barrier. As a backhoe diligently tore down the old fence on the U.S. side of the border, the onlookers stood just a few feet away, watching and occasionally breaking into shouts..The new fence, which will span 2.8 miles when completed in July, is taller, more firmly embedded, and boasts a vertical-post design that allows visibility to the other side.
