FL: Senators vote down controversial E-Verify provision in immigration debate (OMG)...lawmakers fought back against a proposal that would fine employers who hired illegal aliens.The amendment, sponsored by Sen. John Thrasher, R-St. Augustine, did not mandate that private businesses use E-Verify portions, but instead said that employers who employ illegal aliens will face stiff penalties.
