Georgia: Burke County sheriff talks about enforcing Georgia's new immigration law (HB87)

Georgia: Burke County sheriff talks about enforcing Georgia's new immigration law (HB87)..it isn't uncommon to pull over an illegal alien in his jurisdiction. "After July 1st, then we will hold him and all like him until ICE does come get them," Sheriff Coursey says ICE agents won't come to deport just one illegal from the jail. He's worried that means some will sit in jail for months at a time, and taxpayers will have to pick up the tab. It costs about $50 a day to house a prisoner. "We're already overcrowded, the state's overcrowded," "The state's trying to figure out how to get rid of the ones they got." The Burke County jail holds 136 people. They have 123 prisoners right now. Sheriff Coursey says this new law could push their limits, meaning some will have to sleep on the floor or be moved to other jails in the state.
